“Mother of The Green Amendment” Maya van Rossum discusses the importance of the Green Amendment movement

Maya K van Rossum has dedicated her life to being the “voice of the Delaware River” and protector of Mother Earth. Maya is the Delaware Riverkeeper and is currently working to empower individuals across the nation to stand up for their environmental rights by pioneering the Green Amendment Movement. The movement began in 2017 in conjunction with the writing of her book The Green Amendment: Securing our Rights to a Healthy Environment. Maya and her organization recently helped achieve passage of The Green Amendment, also known as the  Environmental Rights Amendment (ERA) in New York State, which has been added to the NYS Bill of Rights. It has also been passed in Pennsylvania and Montana. Maya is working to get the Green Amendment passed in Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia. There is clearly a lot of work to do and Maya is determined to get the Green Amendment passed every state in the U.S. For more info go to forthegenerations.org and delawareriverkeeper.org.
