Courtney on Health Proper Nutrition from toddlers to teens

We all love family dinners, but we often hear parents tell their kids at the dinner table is “you will eat what I tell you to eat, and finish what’s on your plate!” Should we let our kids choose what they eat, and do they have to clean their plates? Kids should be able to explore different foods and expand their pallet. A variety of food helps them make good nutritional choices, which will lead to a joyful eating experience. While pizza, mac and cheese and hot dogs are staples in many homes, how can we get children to eat healthier foods?  According to the Mayo Clinic, nutrition for kids is based on the same principles as nutrition for adults. Everyone needs the same types of nutrients — such as vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, protein and fat. Children, however, need different amounts of specific nutrients at different ages. A balanced diet of protein, fruits, veggies, grains and dairy will lead to a healthy diet. In this episode, Courtney takes us through what’s best for your kids to eat to stay fit and strong.
