Being outdoors is therapeutic, and nature based therapy is helping those who need that connection more than ever. Connection with the earth and its systems are linked to personal well-being. People’s lives are therefore seen as part of a greater system of interaction with nature. We discuss outdoor therapy with our guest Nevin Harper, a Professor at University of Victoria, who practices Nature Based Therapy. Nevin has been involved in the advancement of the outdoor education and outdoor therapy fields in Canada and internationally for a few decades. He is lead author of Nature-based Therapy: A Practitioner’s Guide to Working Outdoors with Children, Youth, and Families, co-authored by David Segal, Kathryn Rose, and the lead editor of the book, Outdoor Therapies: An Introduction to Practices, Possibilities, and Critical Perspectives.
